TAXI STRIKE CONTINUES
NO AGREEMENT REACHED (P.A.) DUNEDIN, Sept. 20. The question whether taxi-drivers in Dunedin would return to work today was not decided by the tribunal set up to hear the dispute when it met in Dunedin yesterday on the instructions of the Minister of Labour, Mr. A. McLagan. The tribunal was set up to consider the question of wages and working conditions. No settlement was reached and the decision of the tribunal will be announced in Wellington within a week. The position regarding taxis in Dunedin remains the same. The drivers will not begin work and the only service available to the public in the meantime will be that provided by about 50 owner-drivers and company employees as has been the case since the stopwork meeting on Wednesday.
