NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER
(P.A.) WELLINGTON. Sept. 20. His Excellency the Governor-General, Sir Bernard Freyberg, has written to the heads of the churches in New Zealand inviting their co-operation and that of their churches in the observance of a national day of prayer on Sunday, September 28, in which the people of the Dominion may join together in seeking Divine aid in the economic crisis at present besetting the nation.
At the request of the Aid-for-Britain Committee, the Inter-Church Council on Public Affairs, in consultation with the heads of all churches, has arranged an immediate response to the GovernorGeneral’s appeal. The council calls for a general and spontaneous response to His Excellency’s appeal and hopes that as a result our sympathy with the people of Britain will be greatly deepcm!
