MR. BLYDE’S VISIT
GREATER PRODUCTION GISBORNE-COAST TOUR Interest is being aroused in the forthcoming' visit to Gisborne and the East Coast of Mr. H. E. Blyde. a member of the Aid-To-Britain Committee and. vice-president of the Federated Farmers of New Zealand, who is to give the people of this area some idea of what is expected of them in the drive for greater production. Initially it was suggested that Mr. Blyde would concentrate praticularly upon the growing of more maize and kumuras in Gisborne and on the Coast. Sir Aoirana Ngata having indicated the Maori’s desire to contribute to the call for aid to Britain by producing more of those crops. It is understood that Ihe scope of his appeal will take m a wider field and he will tell of the work of ihe committee to date. Mr. Blyde will open his itinerary at Gisborne with a meeting on Wedncsday evening. On Thursday morning he will address a gathering in Ruatona and early in the afternoon will meet informally producers at Te Araroa, Hick’s Bay and Te Kalia while en route to Opotiki. Further addresses will be given by Mr.- Blyde in Opotiki on Thursday evening and on Friday in Whakatane in the morning and in Tauranga in ihe afternoon.
