QUIET WEEK-END
GOLF AT AWAPUNI i TOURNAMENT INTEREST With attention mainly centred on the prospects of the open tournament which commences this week, members of the Poverty Bay Golf Club had a fairly quiet week-end on the Awapuni links, official competitions being limited to a Stableford bogey and a four-ball bogey. In the Stableford competition J‘. Coutts scored an outright win with a total of 34 points ofF a handicap of 16, second place being taken by G. E. Law, handicap 15, with 32 points. Other good scores were made by I. D- Bramwell (9), 31 points; G. H. Stewart (8), 31; A. R. Smith (21), 31; H. M. Bodle 03), 30; J. S. Adams (15). 30; W. Mason (23), 30; P. L. Singer (10), 29; W. D. Barker (3). 29; D. E. Chrisp (11), 29; A J. Craighead (11), 28; G. H. Fisher (23), 27; A. J. Humphrey (24), 26. The four-ball bogey match resulted m a win for J. T- Dodgshun and D. K. McLauchlan, who finished 3 up, A. R. Smith and W. Mason taking second place on the count-back from G. H. Fisher and N. J. Daley, both pairs finishing 2 up. Fourth place went to L. Stokes and F. A. Neill, who were 1 stroke up-
