WOMEN BOWLERS
RIVERSIDE CLUB YEAR OUTLINE OF PROGRESS The eighth annual general meeting, ot the Riverside Women’s Bowling i_iub was very well attended, much interest in the affairs of the club ana the prospects of the coming season being shown. Mrs. J. Sangwell, president, occupied the chair. The meeting stood in silence as a mark of respect to the late Mr. R. Jenkins, who had acted as honorary auditor tc the club since its inceptionThe report presented by the secretary, Mrs. C. Mackay, and the balance sheet submitted by the treasurer, Mrs. C Turbitt, were received very favourably. The balance sheet disclosed- a very satisfactory position' with a credit balance despite heavy expenditure on equipment and in the general upkeep of the new green. Much has been done, but the installation of an adequate water tank and other schemes envisaged will entail a further heavy outlay this season. Much credit was given to voluntary workers. Officers elected were: President, Mrs. J. Sangwell; vice-president, Mrs. V. Coker; secretary, Mrs- C. Mackay; treasurer, Mrs. C. Turbitt; committee, Mesdames C. Lloyd, A. Hanna, B. Galloway, G. Corbett, L. Davy; centre delegates, Mesdames C. Mackay and V. Coker; selectors, Mesdames E. Blair and A. Hanna; garden circle, Mesdames V. Coker, C- Lloyd, M. Elliott, E. Blair, A. Hanna and M. Wilkinson. To the accompaniment of sustained applause, the popular secretary, Mrs. C. Mackay, was presented with a handsome wall mirror and a fountain pen as tokens of the club’s appreciation of her efficient services over a period of seven years. Though taken by surprise, the recipient expressed appropriate thanks.
