ESCAPED PRISONER
RECAPTURE REPORTED NO EFFORT TO RESIST (P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Aug. 25. The recapture of Edward Walter Reynolds, a 23-year-old prisoner who escaped from Hautu prison camp, near Tokaanu, on Thursday was effected by two civilians on Saturday. Fie made no attempt to resist. Reynolds was observed on the main road near Lake Rotoaira by a motorist, who imported to the police. Patrols by prison officials were extended to the area, but before any patrol had found the escapee he surrendered to the two civilians.
