W.I.’S ENTERTAIN

A very enjoyable programme was arranged for the members of the South Island travel tour by members of the different institutes in the district. On arrival they were welcomed at Almadale by Mrs E. M. Monckton, president of the P.B. federation and Mrs Johnstone, convener of travel tours for this district A very pleasant time was spent at“Wilencote,” Ngatapa as the guests of Mr and Mrs F. E. Humphreys for luncheon, assisted by members of the Ngatapa institute. Members of the executive also accompanied' the visitors. The men of the visiting party spent a very interesting time viewing the stud stock on the station. Great interest was taken in the maize crop and pumpkins grown in this district, and also the number of early lambs seen. On the return journey to Gisborne, the visitors were entertained by Patutahi members to a delicious afternoon tea in the Patutahi Hall.

In the evening the party were the guests of Tamarau and Makaraka institutes at the Bon Accord .at which vocal items were given .by Mesdames Morrow and Wallen, elocutionary items hv Miss Ray Clements, conjuring by Mr Clare-, and community singing accompanied by Mesdames Reilly and Elliott, also a play, ’’Quits,” by members of the Tamarau institute. Thanks for the wonderful hospitality by all members was expressed by Mrs Smith, Gore, convener of the tour.
