PLAY IN P.B. SERIES SCORING MAINLY CLOSE CALEDONIA’S MARGIN The competitions of the P.B. Hockey Association were advanced a further stage in matches played on the Gisborne ground or. Saturday. Results: A GRADE ! High 5.0.8. (White) 2v. Y.M.P. nil.— | In a very fast game the White for- | wards shaded the Y.M.P, defence. The White full-backs played their usual sound defensive game. The scorers were Hickman and Richardson. Waituhi 2 v. High School 1. —School had the better of the game, but failed to finish off movements started by the halves. The scorer for Waituhi was G. Tupara. The School scorer was Morgan. Caledonia 6 v. Foresters nil.—This was also a good game, although Caledonia had the best of it all through. T. Turbitt, Purcell, Kingston and Faulkner one goal each, while D. Scholium netted two. Muriwai 4 v. 11.5.0.8. (Blue) 3. The scorers for Muriwai were K. Kemp (3) and S. Toroa. For H. 5.0.8., B. Forshaw, J. Hudson and J. Grace netted one goal each. B GRADE Wesley 6 v. High School (III) 2. Wesley forwards proved too fast for the School backs, but the School goalie saved many shots that appeared certain goals. Scorers of goals for Wesley were H. Moore (4) and Leach (2). The School scorers were Odams and Roderick. Boys’ Brigade 7 v. H. 5.0.3. (Red) 3. This win leaves Boys’ Brigade as winners of the B Grade as they reached an unassailable position. Monk (5). Halliwell and Halliwell scored goals for the winners. Scorers for H. 5.0.8. were Pearce, Stokes and Morrow. Other Fixtures

Women's Division.—Hinenui 4 v. Nurses 0; Waituhi 2 v. Y.M.P. (B) 1; Turanganui 4 v. Kia Toa 1. ■ Juniors Boys—lntermediate 2 v. High School nil: Both sides fielded strong teams and a willing encounter ensued. The more finished combination of the Intermediate team won the day. The goals were secured by Green. Junior Girls.—Reps 1 v Rest I: The representative side had to work hard to secure a drawn game. The Rest were dangerous at all times with their sudden break-aways, led by J. Robertson, E. Ferris and P. Howie. For the Reps. M. Dickinson, P. Clare and M. Neilson formed the spearhead of the attack. P. Williamson at centre-half played a heady game. She was ably supported by J. McAneney. In the backs S. Forbes relieved well with strong, accurate shots. For the Rest, M. Thomson in goal r*\ade two fine saves. L. Watts and D. Le Bas made a good back combination. In the half line J. Robertson was outstanding. L. Lowe and J. Dobbie were also prominent at times. Scores were registered by P. Clare for the Reps, and J. Robertson for the Rest. Wesley Shield Play.—The first of an annual series of matches between Wesley, Gisborne, and Wesley, Napier, hockey sides resutled in a win by fourgoals to one to the visitors on the Gisborne ground on Saturday. The game was played at a fast pace with Napier proving the more speedy combination. Goals were scored for Napier by N. McMahon (2), P. Shearer and M. Copeland. The goal for Gisborne was netted by G. Leech. Tire Napier players become tire first winners of the new Wesley Shield. The Rev. J. Henderson was the manager of the team.
