LOOSE THREADS

SORTING BY POLICE WELLINGTON MURDER VICTIM'S PAST (P.A.) WELLINGTON.'May 3. Inquiries show that Mr. Francis Roy Wilkins, victim of the murder and robbery on April 21, was an undischarged bankrupt. He filed a petition in bankruptcy in 1930. The police have questioned a number of persons known to them as having records for crimes of violence and more than one so questioned has consulted his solicitor. There is no suggestion, however, that these inquiries have disclosed the suspect. Taxi-drivers who were on duty or. the night of the murder have been asked to report anything they saw which might have some connection with the case. Twelve detectives are engaged on the case and it remains at the stage where the loose threads are being sorted out. Other persons who have been closely questioned are men who have sat in on gambling schools with Mr. Wilkins. He had been a well-known habitue of these schools for a long time. No search of the sea bed at Evans Bay was carried out yesterday.
