WOOL PRICES RISE

LONDON SALE STRONG COMPETITION COMPLETE CLEARANCE LONDON, May 1. The final of the second series of the London wool sales for 1947, was held to-da.y. The full offering of 33,761 bales was cleared. New Zealand submitted 9940 bales and Australia 14,842. The demand was very keen, and was under strong home and European competition. Compared with the previous series Merinos and the best crossbreds were from 10 to 15 per cent., and others 5 to 10 per cent., higher.
