ATTRACTIVE HOCKEY
GISBORNE INDICATION PROSPECTS FOR SEASON By “Sticks” The season-opening games of the P.B. Hockey Association gave indications of close competition with play of a good standard showing the speed and skill which lend attraction to the game. The majority of the players have had preliminary training under experienced coaches in Messrs. T. Turbitt and G. Langhorne while pupils at the Gisborne Inlermediate Fchool and the Gisborne High School respectively bring to the competition considerable knowledge of stick work, positional play and tact'cs. All senior A teams show signs of improvement and Caledonia, last year s champions, will find the competition much keener this season. The H. 5.0.8. (Blue) side appears an improved combination. High School, well trained and fit. always l give a good display. Muriwai. a strong Maori team, may be looked on to keep a hard pace. The V'aituhi players after the club’s recess of two years have to be proven, but are expected to be prominent, while Foresters ate known ns gerd and able trie's. An early survey leads to the conclusion that the season's series wil prove exceptionally interesting.
