W.C.T.U. MEETING
Mrs. V. Clement took the chair at the April meeting of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union, held in the Methodist schoolroom, Bright street. Devotional exercises were taken by Mrs. E. Hampton, who read from Daniel 111. The scientific fact, submitted by Mrs. Quane, was read by the secretary. The main business was to complete details for the visit of Miss C. McLay, Dominion organiser for the W.CTU Her visit takes place this month and members were asked- to support Miss McLay during her campaign in Gisborne. She is to speak at the Y.M.C.A, the League of Mothers, the Holy Trinity Girls' Club and the Salvation Army Home League. Miss McLay is an able speaker. Mrs. Wallen read the report of Mrs. Shann, the Hawke’s Bay delegate to the recent convention in Auckland, t Mrs. Shann’s report portrayed so vivid-*, ly the progress of convention meetings “ each day that the secretary was instructed to write and congratulate her upon the excellence of the report. Members were reminded that the next meeting would be the "parcels for ■Britain” month when more parcels would be packed for the Gisborne branch’s “adopted” branch at Peckham. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs. Clement.
