TRIBUTE TO CAPTAIN

BURIAL IN S. WALES (11 a m.) LONDON, May 1. Reuter states that Captain H. N. Sherwell. master of the steamer Santampa which was wrecked in Swansea Bay on April 24 with the loss of all hands, was buried at Porthcawl today. The Houlder Brothers, managers of the Santnmpa, sent a wreath bearing the inscription: “With deepest regret at the loss of a great seaman.” Captain Sherwell's wife, who lives in Wellington, New Zealand, was on her way to England at the t>rre of the wreck, but has rot yet arrived.

The entire crew of 40 were lost when the British oil tanker Santnmpa (7219 tons) was driven on the rocks near Porthcawl, on the east side of Swansea Bay,m a pf 80 miles an hour.
