INDOOR BASKETBALL
WOMEN'S SPEEDY PLAY Fast, open play, with crisp, clean passing enabled Kiwis (1) to beat. Woolworths on Wednesday evening in one of tile best games played this season in the women' grading matches of the Gisborne Indoor Basketball Association. The other games were very even with tile majority of the teams showing the benefit of practice-night play. The standard of basketball is improving greatly ar.d hitherto unbeaten teams are likely to meet defeat before very long. Scores:— Women’s Section. —Kiwis (1), 13 v. Woolworths, 9; Power Board, 19 y. Nurses. 5: Red Star (1). 17 v. Kiwis (2). 10: Herald. 20 v. Y.M.C.A. (11), 6; Y.M.CA. (1), 5 v. Petties A, 4; R.S.A., 10 v Y.M.C.A.. 6. The concluding series in the grading rounds will be played on Saturday morning and championship games are to commence next week. A game of particular interest in the men’s section will be between Colts, who were last vears champions and the newly-formed M.I A team which comprises four Americans.
