EARLY FINISH SOUGHT
FOOTBALL MATCHES TRAM WORKERS’ REQUEST (P.A.) AUCKLAND. May 1. The Auckland branch of the New Zealand Tramway Employees’ Union wants all football games here to finish not later than 4 o'clock on Saturday afternoons. The union has requested this in letters to the executive bodies of all three football codes. Co-operation between all parties is preferable to a sudden dislocation of the services, the union states. League and soccer executives have agreed to confer with the union on the matter,' but the Rugby executive is writing to the Auckland Transport Board asking if the board has any suggestions Transport officials say there has heen an agitation by the tramway employees for several vears to avoid later hours of work caused by having to cope with sports crowds. 1
