ALLIES MUST ACT
DISARM GERMANY NOW OR NOT AT ALL BRITISH CHIEF'S WARNING BERLIN, April 29. Lieut.-General Sir Brian Robertson, deputy British Military Governor in Berlin, said to-day that unless effective Allied action is taken quickly to remove Germany’s war potential, it was very likely that it would never be taken. It was a grave pity that the Foreign Ministers failed to reach an agreement on reparations. Unless some action could be taken to resolve the present deadlock, it would mean not merely that there would be no current reparations but the flow of capital reparations would very soon dry up. He believed the solution of the German problem could be reached at a subsequent conference. Unfortunately, the situation in Germany was deteriorating.
