STATEMENT WELCOMED
GISBORNE FARM OUTPUT (P.A.) WELLINGTON. April 30. “I welcome most cordially the statement by Mr. C H. Williams, president of the Gisborne branch of the Federated Farmers’ to the effect that the vast majority of farmers in his district are making the most, strenuous efforts to overcome their difficulties and to achieve the utmost production." said the Minister of Rehabilitation. Mr. C. F. Skinner, last evening. ”1 am sure, too that his assurance will be just as cordially welcomed throughout the country. "I had no doubt myself that this was the case and that if the original anonymous statement from Gisborne, which received such widespread and prominent publicity, were genuine, I feel sure that it would apply to only a small minority who were more anxious to score off the Government than to carry out their plain duty.”
