N.Z.—VANCOUVER 40 HOURS’ FLYING TIME AIRLINER WELCOMED (10 a.m.) VANCOUVER .April 28. The latest link in the all-red air route was completed at 4 p.m. on Sunday with the arrival of Australian National Airways airliner Tatana from Auckland in 40 hours’ flying time, inaugurating a fortnightly service. A crowd of 500 was on hand to greet the ship, including civic dignitaries. The 17 passengers included Mr. James Thorn, the newly-appointed New Zealand High Commissioner, and Mr. R. G. Gunst, assistant passenger superintendent of Australian National Airways. Mr. Thorn is returning to San Francisco immediately to greet his wife and daughter, Anne, who are arriving by boat and to bid farewell to his predecessor, Mr. David Wilson, who is returning to New Zealand. The arrival and reception were broadcast throughout Canada in a radio network.
