Mr. I. J. Goldstine, of Auckland, who has been appointed chairman of the Local Government Commission, has received a ruling from the Crown Law Office that he is lo oe known as Mr. Justice Goldstine. A condition of his appointment is that he will be called upon to resign the mayoralty of One Tree Hill and his connection with other iocai bodies in Auckland. Mr. L. W. Clarkson, formerly postmaster at Wuolston, Canterbury, takes up his new position as postmaster at Tokomaru Bay this week. Mr. S. S. Dean was elected a life member of the New Zealand Rugby Union at the annual meeting on Thursday. Supporting the motion to that effect, Mr. F Sutherland, Auckand, referred to tlie fact that Mr. Dean had helped to administer New Zealand Rugby since 1920, almost all the time ns chairman Mis . erviee to the game had been outstanding.—P A. The Rev. L. C. M. Donaldson, formerly pastor of the Gisborne Baptist Tabernacle, is paying a brief visit 1° Gisborne. Mr. Donaldson, who has lately been resident in Victoria, Australia, is on route to take up his residence in Fiji.
