INDEPENDENTS’ LEAD
JAPANESE ELECTIONS CONSERVATIVE SUPPORT TOKYO. April 22. The latest unofficial figures of the House of Councillors’ election show that Independents won 79 seats, the Social Democrats 36, Liberals 36. Democrats 26. Co-operatives 7 .Communists 1 and minor parties 5; undecided, 60. The majority of the Independents elected were supported by Conservatives. The elected members include eight former members of the House of Peers. 10 former members of the House of Representatives, one Buddhist priest and two women.
