Bishop-elect of Waiapu, the Very Rev. Dean Norman Lesser, formerly of Nairobi, Kenya Colony, is understood to have left for Colombo on the first stage of his journey to New Zealand. Acting on medical advice. Mr. D. G. Sullivan Minister of Industries and Commerce, has entered a Wellington private hospital for observation for a few days.—S.P. Mr. J. C. Shand and Mr. A. Andrews, of Dunedin, have been spending a few days in Gisborne in the course of an extended tour of the North Island. They leave to-morrow morning for the Bay of Plenty and Auckland. Those present at last evening's fortnightlv meeting of the Gisborne Borough Council were the Mayor. Mr. N. H. Bull, and Messrs. H. H. De Costa, F. Tolerton, H. F. Wise. G. D. Muirhead, G. J. Jeune, I. J. Quigley, M. J. White and Dr. A. L. Singer. Members present at Monday’s meeting of the Cook Hospital Board comprised Mrs. E. R. Scott and Messrs. M. T. Trafford. chairman, F. Fararn, J. B. Williams. Harry Cooper, H. H. Dods, H. H. Barker. H. J. F. Tomblcson, J. H. Hall. E. R. Black. G. D. Muirhead and G. W. Armstrong, with the managing secretary, Mr. C. A. Harries, and the medical superintendent, Dr. R. J. B. Hall, also in attendance. Mr. H. H. Dods. taking his seat on the Cook Hospital Board on Monday as successor to Mr. S. T. Gray as a Cook County representative, was welcomed by the chairman. Mr. M. T. Trafford, who expressed pleasure at Mr. Dods’ acceptance of the nomination. Mr. Dods acknowledged the chairman’s welcome with an assurance that he would do his utmost to remove his immediate handicap as a novice in hospital administration.
