TRIBUTE TO TOWN

FIRST VISIT IN 42 YEARS Mr W. H. Hill, deputy-chairman of the Taupo Town Board, and the Misses Hill are visitors to Gisborne and guests at the Masonic Hotel. Mr Hill is making an extensive journey up the East Coast before his return to Taupb.

It is 42 years since he was last in Gisborne, and he has noticed the remarkable changes undergone during that period, and congratulates the council upon the excellent advance of Gisborne, both with regard to culture and pleasure facilities. _ 1 Mr Hill was particularly impressed by the delightful condition of the country in approaching Gisborne from Muriwai and thinks that in all probability Gisborne will attain the status of fourth, or maybe third largest city in the North Island during the next decade. Mr Hill thus pays tribute to a town greatly esteemed many years ago and still' retaining his affection. He is the son of the late Mr Henry Hill and a brother of the late Mr H. E. Hill, both intimately connected with Gisborne in earlier years.
