USE OF JAPANESE
MALAYAN COAL STRIKE SINGAPORE, Jan. 27. The Malayan Government has announced its decision to use Japanese surrendered personnel to mine coal from the Malayan collieries after 3000 striking members of the Colliery Workers’ Union rejected the Government's arbitration offer, The statement added that the Japanese would be used to mine only sufficient coal necessary to maintain essential rail and electricity services.
