NOW FREEZING-WORKER
MR. C. MORGAN WILLIAMS “SERVICE TO COMMUNITY” The man who almost certainly would have been the new Minister of Agriculture if he had succeeded in securing another 87 votes, Mr. C, Morgan Williams, is now working in a Christchurch freezing works for the killing season. Mr. Williams was the Labour member for Kaiapoi from 1935 up to the last general election, when this seat was abolished through the boundaries revision. He stood for the new Christchurch seat of St. Albans, but was defeated by 86 votes by the former National member for Riccarton, Mr. J. T. Watts. A farm outside Christchurch which Mr. Williams was operating at the time of his election to Parliament in 1935 is now being run by members of his family. Mr. Williams decided to take a job in the freezing works, not through necessity, but because he considers that as workers are scarce and he is still able to work he should, together with all others in a similar position, render such service to the community as is possible. ___
