TOKOMARU BAY APPEAL

DOMAIN IMPROVEMENTS CONCERT AIDS FUND Prolonged applause demanding encores to practically every item of a generous programme gave evidence in the Gaiety Theatre, Tokomaru Bay, on Thursday evening of public appreciation of the concert organised by Mr. Pat Andrew in aid of the domain fund. Inc theatre accommodation was taxed to capacity by the large audience. As a result, over £4B was handed to Mr. Wilkins, chairman of the domain committee, who expressed suitable thanks to the organiser and all who had co-operated in providing the programme, and to the general public for the generous support given. It was stated that, over £8 was realised from the proceeds of sales of flowers ottered during the interval by three attractively-costumed sales girls. The stage manager, M. T. Edge, extended thanks to the artists, who included visitors from Gisborne and To Puia, and all who combined in preparing for and presenting the entertainment, giving details of services rendered by various helpers. A ball organised by the Tokomaru Bay Maorj Labour Party committtee drew a good attendance to the Centennial Hall on Friday 'evening. Miss T. Ngawai’s orchestra provided the music for dancing and Mr. k. rorrester olliciated as M.C. The ladies’ committee provided a most delectable supper. M. To Ptira and partner won a Monte Carlo ami a statue waltz, and Mr. and Mrs. S. Newton won a spot waltz. Mr. Welch thanked all for their attendance and for those who had given support during the election campaign. PERSONAL
