WELFARE OF INFANTS EMPIRE COMPETITION WON (P A.) DUNEDIN, Dec. 10. Cabled advice has been received from the National Baby Welfare Council London, that the British Commonwealth challenge shield competition has been won by the Royal New Zealand Society for the Health of Women and Children, the Plunkct Society. The shield with a prize of 25gns. was offered for the best record of child welfare work carried out during the years 1939-1944 inclusive, and the competition was open to any committee, statutory or voluntary, in Australia. Canada. New Zealand, South Africa and Newfoundland.
The report submitted by the Plunkct Society was compiled by Dr. Helen Deem, medical adviser, and Miss N. P. Fitzgibbon, former nursing adviser to the society. The report dealt with the growth of the society s work during the six-year period.
