HIGH STANDARD KEPT

GISBORNE MARKSMEN FROM 500 AND 600 YARDS On Saturday afternoon members of the Gisborne Defence Rifle Club fired from the 500yds. and 600yds. mounds on the Sponge Bay range. There was a good attendance of competitors ana scoring was again of a high standard. At the 500yds. P. Dolman registered top score with 49, finishing with a good run of eight bulls-eyes This was equalled by R. Burson, who dropped a point with his fifth shot. At the longer range the honours were shared by C. Rowe and G. Jeune. both competitors having scores of 47 points out of the possible of 50. , In the aggregate for the match R. Burson secured first place with a gross score of 96 out of the possible 100. Burson, who is shooting in top form, was unfortunate to register his eighth shot at 600yds. on the wrong target. This robbed him of the possible score at this difficult range. Second place went to P Dolman, who shot consistently well 'and returned a gross total of 96 also Detailed scores:—R.
