AZERBAIJAN BORDER FIGHTS

CONFLICTING REPORTS FROM SCENE DENIAL OF BIG TAZEKHAN ACTION LONDON, December 5. The Azerbaijan Premier, M.. Pishevari, broadcasting on the Tabriz radio, said: “The Persian Army again launched an attack an an unprecedented scale with tanks and grenades near Tazckhan, We repelled the attack. There were heavy casualties on both sides.”

Renter’s correspondent in Teheran quotes a military spokesman as saying that there was no fighting at Tazckhan. The correspondent adds that reliable eyewitness reports said there was complete calm in Tazckhan yesterday and on Tuesday.

The Persian military spokesman denied the earlier Tabriz radio report that the Azerbaijan border had been crossed and that fighting had broken out, adds Reuter’s correspondent. The spokesman said the Government forces remained on the Azerbaijan border and would not fight without orders, which so for has not been given.
