SOVIET TRUSTS
SEIZED INDUSTRIES SUCKING UP OUTPUT GERMAN REPARATIONS GO a.m.) WASHINGTON, Dec. G. The formation of 10 Russian trusts which, it is stated, are sucking up current German industrial production for reparations, is detailed in a report which has reached Washington through military channels. The trusts have taken title for the Soviet of German corporations listed for expropriation and nationalisation. About 200 plants have thus been absorbed. The report is believed to be the first authentic account of the plan to keep German plants in operation with German labour instead of dismantling them. The Soviet military administration does not assume the rights and claims of owners and stockholders. The report asserts that the Soviet seized the plants for as low as 10 and 15 per cent, of their real value and also that the Russians are hard on workers, work the machines three shifts daily and plan to take the machines to Russia at the end of the exploitation.
