(10 a.m.) NEWCASTLE, Dec. 7. About 20 school children had a narrow escape from serious injury when a freak storm struck a school building at Medowie, 12 miles from Newcastle yesterday. The children suffered only minor injuries from flying timber as the school building collapsed. It was most fortunate that the majority of children had left the school when it was struck b v the storm. Those remaining behind were practising for the schoo 1 concert They were hurriedly taken from the building by a teacher when the weatherboard building began to sway in the wind.
