GERMAN PROTEST
FEDERAL STATE MOVES HAMBURG, Dec. 5. Walter Ulbricht. an executive member of the Soviet-inspired Socialist Unity Party, has called for a nationwide referendum “for the restoration of unity in Germany and against federalism,” says Reuter’s correspondent in Hamburg. Ulbricht, in a speech in the Saxony Parliament, called the Anglo-American merger agreement an attempt to tear Germany asunder. He added that Germany should be a single unit as promised by the Allies at Potsdam!
