REDUCTION PENDING
BRITISH UNITS IN JAPAN (11 a.m.) LONDON, Doe. 5,
In the House of Commons to-day, the Lord President of the Council, Mr. Herbert Morrison, announced that Britain is considering, in consultation with Australia and General MacArthur, reducing the size of the United Kingdom's forces in Japan. The Government had decided to consider the matter in view of the degree of stability achieved in Japan. It is also anxious to reduce its commitments throughout the world.
SINGAPORE’S CLAIM
(10 a.m.) SINGAPORE. Dec. 5. Singapore has lodged a claim for £118.000.000 compensation for damages caused by Japan.
