SMALL ENTRY

MATAWHERO SALE

NO BEEF IN YARDS

No beef came forward to-day at the Matawhsro stock sale and the yarding in general was much lighter than usual, the sale of store stock being completed by 11 a.m. No doubt it was thought that the demand for prime beef would have been satisfied by the heavy entry at the Cattle Fair on Tuesday.

In the fat sheep section, apart from a few pens, the yarding did not prove attractive to butchers. However, the prices were up to scheduled rates. Ewes sold at up to 40s for a small pen of heavy-woolled animals, and shorn ewes at up to 225. Three springing lambs realised 245.

The store entry also was small, twotooth wethers in fair order bringing 33s Id, two-tooth ewes in forward condition 23s fid, and a line of 50 woolly ewes, aged, and 55 lambs, several well forward, passed in at 37s 3d. .

There was an average yarding of pigs, porkers realising from £3 2s to £3 10s, good stores to £3 2s, slips 27s to 30s, and weaners from 26s to 23s 6d.
