TRANSPORT PRIORITY

STRANDED N.Z. PEOPLE BOOKINGS FROM ENGLAND LONDON. Dec. 4. British shipping companies operating ■to New Zealand have agreed that until such time as passages have been secured for all New Zealanders stranded in Britain during the war years, a proportion of the accommodation available on each vessel leaving Britain for New Zealand should be set aside for allocation by the New Zealand High Commissioner's Office. It has been stipulated, however, that the only persons who may be added to the present waiting list at New Zealand House should be New Zealand business men who have come to Britain on missions sponsored by the New Zealand Government. As a result, there is now no means by which priority transport can be secured for ordinary passengers through New Zealand House, and it is, therefore, being suggested to prospective passengers who are not on sponsored visits, or whose names are not already on the New Zealand House waiting list, that they should make their arrangements directly with the shinping companies. By an arrangement with the Ministry of Transport, the companies have now resumed control of the allocation of passages on their own vessels.
