REGIME FOR TRIESTE
BIG FOUR AGREEMENT BALKAN TREATIES’ IMPASSE (10 a.m.) NEW YORK. Dec. 5. The Council of Foreign Ministers agreed to-night on all details of the provisional Government for Trieste, but failed to settle the reparations clauses of the Balkan peace treaties. Mr. James Brynes and Mr. Ernest Bevin opposed M. Molotov’s suggestion that Albania should receive 10,000,000 dollars’ compensation from Italy. The Ministers, despite the lack of progress at the last two meetings, hope to end the Balkan peace treaty discussions this week and start talks on the German treaty. Mr. Bevin and other members of the British delegation will return home by the Queen Elizabeth on December 14.
