CALL TO ARMS

AZERBAIJAN FORCES ATTACK ALLEGED GOVERNMENT FORCES LONDON, Dec. 4. The Tabriz radio stated that Persian Government troops entered Azerbaijan and attacked Azerbaijan soldiers, according to a proclamation issued by the central committee of the Azerjaijan Democratic Party. The proclamation said: “We will defend our country to the last drop of blood. Students, workers, professors and youth organisations, we call on you to defend our freedom and the republic!” The Persian Prime Minister, M. Sultaneh, has issued a proclamation that the elections will begin on Saturday, as arranged, except in Azerbaijan, where they will be held “when the security forces are in position.” Tabriz radio announced last night that a gathering of 50,000 people in Tabriz passed a resolution demanding general mobilisation in Azerbaijan. The crowd afterwards marched to the office of the Azerbaijan Democratic Party, whose secretary-general gave them permission in the name of the party to fight with the army against Persian Government troons.
