Christmas Poultry Delayed
American transport troubles are likely to deprive British Christmas dinners of 2000 tons of the 4400 tons of geese and poultry which the Ministry of Food has ordered. Two thousand four hundred tons from other countries, however, including 400 tons from Australia, will be available. The Ministry’s order for 11,500 tons of turkeys is also unlikely to be entirely fulfilled before Christmas owing to the Argentine refrigeration strike.
