£33,257 ESTIMATED HOSPITAL EXPENSES NO OUTSTANDING ITEMS Total capital outlay envisaged by the Cook Hospital Board for the year 1946-47 was reported upon to the board at yesterday’s meeting by the managingsecretary, Mr, C. A. Harries, the aggregate sum involved being £33,257. This figure is subject to a deduction of £7200, the amount outstanding from funds voted for 1945-46 for work and equipment approved early last year, but not expended. The net capital expenditure to be provided for in the new financial year will he £26,060, which is £1264 in excess of the vote for 1945-46. The estimates as submitted to the board are to be placed before the Minister of Health for approval, and will come up for discussion at the April meeting of the board. There was no discussion on the figures at yesterday’s meeting. Lister Hospital Offer The biggest single item in the 1946-47 expenditure from capital funds will be the building of a nurses’ cottage and clinic at Patutahi for which £3350 is allotted for building and £3OO for furnishing and equipping. The board also has allowed for £3600 to be expended in the purchase of the Lister Hospital, but it was indicated in discussion on the finance committee’s report that no progress had been made with this project since the board made its oiler to the present owner of the property some months ago. The bulk of the expenditure estimated is for equipment for various services offered by the board, including a £2291 outlay for' an X-ray unit, radio-graphy table and tomograph, this having been provided for last year and not fully expended.
