IMPERIAL PREFERENCE “FAMILY AGREEMENT” LONDON. March 22. “We must at all costs resist any proposal that we should eliminate Imperial preference,” said Lord Croft in a speech at Cardiff to Conservatives and the Empire Industries Association. “Even if the terms of the American loan appear harsh it is not gracious to criticise something you have asked for, but the matter of Imperial preference, which is to be discussed at the coming economic conference, is purely the concern of the British people. “I cannot help feeling that the United States wants, above all else, to capture the trade of our colonial Empire and that their policy is not wholly altruistic. We cannot tolerate abandonment of our family agreement.” ■
