LONDON MARCH
ENGINEER UNIONISTS WAGE INCREASE WANTED (10 a.m.) LONDON, March 24. Carrying banners, 50,000 cheering members of the Amalgamated Engineering Union marched from The Temple tube station to Hyde Park to demonstrate for wage increases. The demonstrators demanded an increase of £1 a week, a 44-hour week, a 12-day holiday with pay, payment for Bank holidays, a guaranteed full week's pay, and a wage increase for women.
Police escorted the marchers. The demonstration was good - natured throughout.
