CHINA’S FOREIGN POLICY
MORE POWER FOR UNO (10 a.m.) CHUNGKING, March 24. The Foreign Minister, Mr. Wang Shih-chieh. at a press conference, said the traditional Chinese foreign policy of playing one great Power against another had ended. China intended to stand for what was right and oppose what was wrong in any circumstances. China would work for extension of the power of UNO, which he said, was essential to its success.
The Soviet assurance that the Red Army forces would be out of Manchuria within six weeks had increased the urgency of a political and military settlement between the Kuomintang and the- Communists. Reports tended to show that the Communists were consolidating their positions, particularly in North Manchuria, where they had establishments in three provinces.
