STRIKE IN CRETE
MARTIAL LAW THREAT M. SOFOULIS' WARNING (10 a.m.) ATHENS, March 24. The Prime Minister, M. Sofoulis, has warned' that martial law would be enforced in the Canea district of Crete if the general strike there persisted. He claimed that the strikers’ object was to secure postponement, of the Greek elections. A commission comprising officials from three Ministries would visit Crete to investigate the reason for the strike.
