Major-General Leslie > Groves, army director of atomic projects, said the secrets of the atomic bomb were safe from any spying. The bomb project was like a giant jigsaw puzzle, with 100,000 pieces. Chance betrayal by a scientist might reveal five or 10 pieces, but it would mean almost nothing.
