HIGHER PRICES

MORRINSVILLE SALE EAST COAST SHEEP KEEN COMPETITION The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, reports that at its weekly stock sale held at Morrinsville on Friday a medium yarding of Cat sheep met with strong competition and prices were in advance of recent quotations. Store lambs were yarded in large numbers and prices were on a par to a shade easier than last week’s values. The advertised entry of East Coast ewes attracted a full bench of buyers. Competition for good quality young ewes was keen and prices for these showed a distinct improvement.

Beef was in short supply and any killable cows sold freely. Boner and store cows also sold well in advance of schedule rates. A good yarding of Jersey heifer calves attracted attention. Bidding generally was free and satisfactory prices were obtained. The advertised line of dairy cows was in keen demand and sold at firm values. There was a smaller yarding of fat pigs.
