NO NEW TYRES BURNED
MINISTER’S STATEMENT
(10 a.m.) CANBERRA, March 23. The Minister of the Army, Mr. F. M. Forde. denied allegations that 1000 new tyres were burned on Morotai. He said that approximately 3000 worn-out tyres had been destroyed, but all new tyres had either been transferred to the ordnance depot at Japan or returned to the mainland.
