“SYNTHETIC MEAT”
PRODUCTION FROM WOOD AUSTRIAN SCIENTIST (9.30 LONDON, March fi. “Synthetic meat" made from wood has been manufactured by the inventor ot' synthetic oil.. Professor Freidericn Bergius, says the Exchange Telegraph's correspondent in Vienna. The meat consists of a yeast which contains chemically as much fat, albumen. and calories as meat. The new substitute will be marketed in Ihe shape of flakes to be added to soups and gravies. The inventor is also working on the production of artificial cutlets. The manufacture of the yeast will begin this month at an artificial wood factory at Landing near Vienna.
