MR. G. A. PASCOE
NEW APPOINTMENT DEPARTMENTAL CHANGES (P.A.) WELLINGTON. March 5. Mr. G. A. Pascoe, who has been factory controller in the Ministry of Supply throughout the war, has been appointed acting director of the Industries Division of the reorganised Department of fndustrics and Commerce. This was announced last night bv the Minister of Industries and Commerce, Mr. D. G. Sullivan. “I indicated a few months ago that, following the separation of the Industries and Commerce Department from tlie Tourist and Publicity Department, an extensive reorganisation of the former would be taking place as soon as suitable staffing arrangements could be made. “Already a new permanent head has been appointed and a number of new
executive positions within the department have been filled. “During the transition period the extensive knowledge of New Zealand industries possessed by Mr. Pascoe will be utilised by appointing him actingdirector of the newly-created Industries Division of the department. “It is generally acknowledged that Mr. Pascoe’s work as factory controller was most effective and materially contributed to the success achieved in the production of military and other essential supplies in factories during the war period, as well as in the allocation of critical materials in short supply.” Mr. J. B. Prendergast, of the Department of Industries and Commerce, who has been associated with Mr. Pascoe on factory control work,'has been appointed factory controller until such time as the few remaining factory controls are revoked.
