GERMAN REPARATIONS
£3,000,000 IN EQUIPMENT (10 a.m.) CANBERRA. March 5. Australia will receive £3,000,000 in reparations in plant and equipment from Germany, including £650,000 of German assets held in Australia by the Controller of Enemy Property.
The Prime Minister, Mr. J. B. Chifley, announced that the assets will be made up of real estate holdings £IO,OOO, interests under trusts, wills and settlements £300,000, bank balances £35,000, interests in Australian companies £45,000, debts £250,000, and miscellaneous £IO,OOO. The net amount, after allowing for certain contingencies, will be about £500,000.
