GERMAN ASSETS
PROBLEM OF DISPOSAL ALLIES & SWISS TO CONFER TRANSFER OF HOLDINGS (9 a.m.) LONDON, March 4. Switzerland has agreed to send a representative to Washington to confer with Britain, America and France regarding the disposition of German-held assets in Switzerland totalling about 750,000,000 dollars. The conference will endeavour first to obtain Switzerland’s consent to a decree by the Allied Control Council vesting the ownership of all German assets abroad in the German External Assets Committee which has been established by the four Powers on the council; secondly, work out means of liquidating these assets, which are to be applied to the reparations accounts of Britain, America and France so that Germany will not regain control. A similar conference will be held later with representatives of Sweden, where Germany, it is believed, invested 500,000,000 dollars.
