RESEARCH IN FUTURE
GOVERNMENT CONTROL LONDON, Feb. 13. The future research and development of the gas turbine engine—jet propulsion—will he controlled by a Government department, not through a private company, stated the Ministry of Aircraft Production. Early in J 944 the Ministry bought Power Jets Limited, and formed a new company, Power Jets (Research and Development), Limited, all shares being owned by the Government. The arrangement, however, was subject to review after hostilities ceased. It lias been made clear, says the Daily Mail, that the new arrangement is one of Government policy, and in no way reflects on the conduct of the company's business. The board, in fact, will co-operate in carrying out the new plans.
